International Migrants Day event was organized in Berat on December 18, as part of the Project Greenback 2.0.

The objective of the event was to recognize the significant impact that migrants have on the Albanian economy and to identify opportunities to leverage the contribution of migrants for sustainable development through an effective, inclusive and enabling financial services landscape.

More than 50 people and classes of high school students attended the event and took part in a lively discussion about how financial inclusion enables development in Berat and more broadly, how to better use remittances in the function of long term stability and how remittances can trigger employment or self-employment.

The event was also a great opportunity for all stakeholders to meet and share their perspectives on financial education needs and opportunities in Albania and it set up the basis for the creation of the Greenback Advisory Group.
